Kyle Scheele: Hello, my name is Kyle Scheele. If you thought it was SHEEL, that's okay. Most people get it wrong the first time. The name Scheele originally meant crooked and it was used in a derogatory manner to refer to someone who was disabled or cross-eyed, or had some noticeable physical abnormality. And while it's not nice to call people names, I actually kind of love that history because it means that somewhere back in my ancestry, someone took this insult, this mean thing that other people called them. And they said, "I'm not ashamed of the thing that makes me different. In fact, I'm going to own that. I'm going to make that my last name." And they passed that down to their kids who passed it down to their kids. And now all these years later it's come to me.

And so every time someone says Mr. Scheele, it's like a tiny reminder that we shouldn't be ashamed of the things that make us different.
We should own those things because those are the things that make us who we are.
