Lorenz Graham: Hi, this is Ruth Graham Segrest. Lorenz Graham was my father. Lorenz passed away in 1989. He pronounced his name Lorenz Grayum and he published more than 20 books and stories by that name. Actually, when he was christened, he was given the name Lorenzo Bell Graham. Sometime during his early years, he dropped the O from Lorenzo and called himself Lorenz. His middle name, Bell, was his mothers maiden name. You see, her father, Lorenz's grandfather, was a Native American of the Osage Nation in Missouri.

He fell In love with a beautiful daughter of a slave woman and rescued the young lady from slavery.
They married and moved to Minnesota and his grandfather, because his name was difficult to pronounce, changed his last name, to Bell and that's how Lorenz got his middle name.
