Deborah Kogan Ray: Hi. My name is Deborah Kogan Ray.
Ray is my pen name and it rhymes with lots of words like day and clay and play, but in everyday life I use Kogan as my last name and that doesn't rhyme with anything that I can think of. It is my given name that I took back after I divorced my first husband.
I have illustrated lots of books as Deborah Ray and all my publishers worried that no one would know who I was if my name was changed and so I stuck Kogan in the middle and now, my pen name is Deborah Kogan Ray.
