Elisha Cooper: Hello. My name is Elisha Cooper. Elisha can be pretty unpronounccable. I sometimes have trouble pronouncing it myself. "Elisha, Lisha, Lisha." I'm often called "Alisha," which would be fine if I were a woman, or Israeli. Elisha is an old family name from the New England side of the family. It's a Biblical name. Elisha was Elijah's disciple, his assistant. Sometimes I wish I were named Elijah, because it sounds tougher. When I played football in college, I went by "Eli." Now I like my name, its ambiguity. The favorite review I've ever received, I think it was from USA Today, started out "Elisha Cooper and her beautiful watercolors." My middle name is Starr. That's "Starr" with two Rs. It comes from the Hungarian side of my family, and it's much easier to pronounce.
