Lynne is spelled with an E at the end, because my parents decided to let the New York Times choose how to spell Lynne when they put the announcement of my birth in the newspaper. The Times spelled it L-Y-N-N-E, and so it was. My last name is pronounced "bare-ish," even though it looks like "bar-osh." In fact, when I first met my husband, I thought it was "bar-osh" but soon found out it was "bare-ish." So, to put it all together, my name is Lynne Barasch.
