John Armistead: Hello, my name is John Armistead. Sometimes my name is pronounced by various family members as ARM-I-STED, or ARM-STED, or ARM-STID. And I'm afraid I use, at various times, all three pronunciations. But basically, I probably say my name is John Armistead more than any other way.

Armistead is an old English name.
The first Armistead came to America in 1621. If you want to remember the name, you can also think of the fact that I am an artist as well as a writer, and you have to have a steady arm to write. Thank you very much.
