Cynthia L. Copeland: Hello. The name on all of my books is Cynthia L. Copeland. Cynthia is my given name, but sometimes I joke that I like to give it back, because I always go by Cindy, which is the nickname for Cynthia. Cynthia was a popular name in the 1960s when I was growing up, so my kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Corn, randomly assigned to all of the Cynthias a different version of the name to avoid confusion. I was Cindy C., then there was Cindy L., and Cynthia G., and those names stuck until middle school. Once, when I was 12, I tried to get fancy by combining Cindy with my middle name Lee, and calling myself Cindylee, all one word. But my best friend Kathy told me no one would ever call me that. Kathy is still one of my best friends, and, all these years later, she likes to remind me that she was 100% right about Cindylee.
