Helen Foster James: Hi! My name is Helen Foster James. Three words, no hyphen.

I was named after a very nice lady my mom and dad knew named Helen. My maiden name was Helen Foster.

I like the name Foster, because it means to help develop or help grow. My family's name, Foster, came from England. We have a long English connection. In fact, my great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather came to America on an early sailing of the Mayflower.

When I got married, I changed my last name, Foster, to be my middle name, and took my husband's last name, James, as my last name. James is a Scottish name. My husband's father came to America from Scotland when he was a young man.

So that's my name. Helen Foster James. Three words, no hyphen.

So, tell me. What do you know about your name?
