Cara Mentzel: My name is Cara Mentzel. What I know about my name is that I was actually supposed to be Jessica.

I was supposed to be a Jessica, I think, and then somebody, a friend of my mom's used that name or something like that. And somehow I became Cara. And a lot of people like to say Car-a because the C-A-R in the beginning of my name looks like the word car. So they like to say Car-a, but I am Cara and on Long Island, sometimes I'm Caa-ra or Cara. That's what it is. And my last name, I say it Mentzel like men, and then sell like cell phone. And to a lot of students, I'm Miss Mentzel or Miss M, because it's easier for them to see and spell and say. But I love my last name because that's how most students know me.
