Chag Lowry: My name is Chag Lowry. My first name Chag is short for Chagamem, which is a Yurok native word. I was named by my great-grandmother. And I know that my mother, who was Yurok, talked with her mom about my name, my father. I know that there were many cultural conversations about what my name would be. Being born in 1974, I was part of a generation where our Yurok names started to be used again instead of English names. So Chag is short for Chagamem and that's the origin of my first name.
