Psuedonymous Bosch: Hello. My name is Pseudonymous Bosch. Pseudonymous is an old family name. Bosch is the name of my dishwasher. Well, that second part is true. Pseudonymous is of course a pseudonym, a fake name. Most people pick up on that, although you'd be surprised how many people don't, and very few can pronounce it correctly. No, it's not PUH-SUE-DONY-MOUS, not SUE-DOUGH-NIM-IN-IS. It's SUE-DON-NYM-US. It's Pseudonymous.
I came up with the name when I was writing my first book, The Name Of This Book Is Secret. It went with the secret theme, of course. Also, as part of a program called Writing Partners, I was writing the book for a fourth grader who wasn't supposed to know my real name until the book was finished. Hence my anonymity and pseudonymity.
Pseudonymous Bosch, by the way, is no relation to Hieronymus Bosch, the detective in Michael Connolly's books, or to the 16th century painter whose paintings are not totally appropriate for my young readers.
