Tanaz Bhathena: My name is Tanaz Bhathena. Tanaz is a Persian name which hearkens back to my roots. My ancestors came from Persia to India as refugees and planted roots in the state of Gujarat and Maharashtra. We're known as the Parsis and follow the Zoroastrian faith.
My surname, Bhathena, refers to my ancestral village Bhatha in Gujarat. Bhathena can literally be translated to "from Bhatha."
