Yvonne Ng: Hi, my name is Yvonne Ng. My last name is spelled N-G and it has no vowels in it. So it throws a lot of people off. I always like it as a conversation starter because most people say, "How do you pronounce that?" And so we have a nice conversation. We pronounce it 'ING', and that's my family. It's actually a very popular name in Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, it's pronounced, NNG but a lot of Americans have problems pronouncing that, because it feels like they've forgotten something. So we made it easy when my father and my mother came to this country and they just told people to pronounce it as if there was a I in front of it. So it sounds like "ing". I have other friends that I've met throughout the years who have the same Chinese character. So it's the same name, but they have changed the spelling of their names to either be I-N-G or to be E-N-G, so that Americans and English speakers have an easier time. So that's why I always introduce myself as Yvonne Ng, spelled N-G.
