K.M. Waldvogel: Hello. My name is Kathleen Waldvogel. When I write, I use my first initials and last name, K.M. Waldvogel. When I was growing up, my family called me Kate or Katie, but when we moved and I entered fourth grade, my teacher asked if she could call me Kathy. I was extremely shy and was embarrassed to have so many people looking at me, so I simply nodded. I still answer to all of these names, so I felt I could simplify things by just using initials as a writer. When my husband and I married, I took his last name. Waldvogel is of German origin and means bird of the forest, which I feel is a truly beautiful phrase.
