Ben Gundersheimer (Mister G): Hello, my name is Ben Gundersheimer. I've heard so many different attempts to pronounce my name over the years. I never correct people, just because I think it's an act of courage to even attempt it, but it is Gundersheimer.

It's kind of extraordinary that whoever was on duty at Ellis Island, when my father arrived from Germany, did not change the name, but there it is.
And on stage as a musician, I'm known in the children's world is Mr. G. I was a former elementary school teacher. And at that point I really didn't want to torture my students by having them pronounce Gundersheimer over and over. So I just had them call me Mr. G, and that morphed into my stage name and in the literary world, both names appear on the books -- Ben Gundersheimer and Mr. G.
