Seanan McGuire: My name is Seanan McGuire. Seanan's not a super common name in the United States. It is the archaic Scottish form of Janet, which has always been fun for me as both a folklorist and someone who is interested in people being able to pronounce her name.

And what I tell folks when they're trying to figure it out is to imagine that they have a friend who's just named Sean. And, if they invited Sean over, they might to whoever was in the front of the house, "Hey, let Sean in." And that is how you pronounce my name. You just need to keep letting Sean in.

It is a fun name to have, because nobody has it, except for a character in "Homestuck," which can make searching for my name on Tumblr a little bit more exciting than I want it to be.
