Martin W. Sandler: Hi. My name is Martin W. Sandler. The W stands for William. My ancestors came over from Byelorussia with the great wave of immigration from Europe. I believe their name originally was Schindler, and like so many thousands of people, they had their name changed when they went through Ellis Island, because the people who were processing them just couldn't understand what they were saying.
