Amada Irma Pérez: Hi, my name is Amada Irma Pérez. Amada is often mistaken for Amanda, but it doesn't have an 'N', and the 'D' sounds like a soft 'TH' as in "the". It also doesn't have an 'R', like the Spanish Armada. Amada actually means beloved, or loved one, and goes with my middle name Irma which actually sounds like "ear-ma". I was named for my grandmother, my father's mother, who died long before I was born. I, as the first born child of my parents, was chosen to carry her name, Amada, quite an honor.
My middle name, Irma, honors two of my aunts. One my mother's sister, and one my father's sister. My last name, Pérez, is my husband's, and it has an accent over the first 'E'. It's not ever pronounced "Per-rez". So to feel complete and truly me, I am Amada Irma Pérez and feel so loved when it's pronounced just right.
