John Carlin: Hello, my name is John Carlin. My father who passed on the name to me was Scottish, and I believe the name is of Irish, or Gaelic origin, and that the original meaning of the word, or the word from which it derives, means witch or old woman; and there's actually a poem by the great famous Scottish poet Robert Burns called "The Three Carlins" which is all about these three witches who go down from Scotland to London, transform everybody into frogs, and toads, and generally cause extraordinary mayhem, and then return on the highway up to Scotland cackling all the way home. That's my name, Carlin.
