Margaret Peot: Hello. My name is Margaret Peot. When I was a little girl, my family called me Sissy, like sister, though no one called my brother Bubby. I assumed then that my name was Margaret Ann Peot Sissy and signed all of my school papers like that until second grade. It took forever to write it all out. A teacher in second grade even sent a note home to my mother about it. I think that teacher was concerned that I felt that I was a sissy. My immediate family, husband, and a few old friends call me Margaret Ann, but mostly I introduce myself as Margaret. I kept my maiden name Peot for three reasons. One, that's how people got to know me here in New York professionally and it seemed easier to keep it. Two, I am related to every Peot, P-E-O-T, in the US and that's cool, and three, I like my name.
