Jonah Winter: Hi. My name is Jonah Winter. Not Jon, not Jonathan, not Joe, not Joney, not Jona, not Johanna, not Johan, not Jason, not Joshua, not Noah. I get that one a lot. Not Josefius, not Ezekiel, not Nebuchadnezzar, and not even Jonas, with an S. You wouldn't believe how many ways people get my name wrong.
My name is Jonah. J-O-N-A-H, as in Jonah in the whale, but that's not why I'm named Jonah. It has nothing to do with the whale, honestly. My parents named me Jonah, because Jonah means dove in Hebrew. The dove is a symbol of peace and as it turns out world peace is one of the things I've always cared most about. So there you have it, the story of my name, peace.
