Gregory Mone: Hello. My name is Gregory Mone, not Monet, although that would be kind of cool. It's Mone as in groan. Strangely enough, no one every made fun of me for my last name until I was a freshman in high school. I had started on this new swim team, and in the middle of the practice everyone on the team, about 50 kids, all started moaning and groaning. Since I was new, I thought it was some kind of strange cheer, so I started doing it with them until someone very kindly informed me that in fact they were making fun of me. I don't know how it happened, but since I didn't get upset they all decided it was kind of funny and they made that the new cheer for the swim team. For the next two years, everyone on my team would moan and groan at all the meets when I got up to swim. So, I kind of like my last name.
