When I was in high school, there were actually three Elissas, and each of started our name with a different letter. So, to distinguish between us, people would say Alissa, Elissa, or Ilissa. But now I figured out that really the best way to get people to remember how to say my name is just to tell them it sounds like Melissa without the 'M'.
