Tate Nation: Hello. My name is Tate Nation. My dad's middle name is Taylor, and when he was a child his younger sister couldn't really say that. And so along the way, her pronunciation, Tater, became his nickname, and later shortened to Tate. For me though, it's my real name. Says so on my birth certificate. As a young boy, I wasn't too crazy about the name. I wanted to be a Tom or a Paul. But as I grew, I came to very much appreciate the uniqueness of Tate. Now my last name, Nation, is of Scots/Irish origin, and other than known relatives, I seldom bump into anyone with the Nation surname. I'm one of five kids in my family, and all the others have really common names, so I consider myself the lucky one.
