K.L. Denman: Hello, my name is K. L. Denman. The initial K. stands for Kim. It's just Kim, not Kimberly, which is something my mother says she now regrets, but it's fine with me.
I do think choosing the right name for someone is important, even when it's for a fictional someone. When I'm writing stories, it can take a while for me to come up with the right name for my characters, because finding ones that feel like they fit helps with their creation.
You know, that might happen in real life, too. I have friends that took a long time choosing the name for their baby, because they wanted one that suited her. When they finally settled on one they liked, they said it might not be exactly perfect, but as they began to identify her by that name, soon enough, it would be.
I guess that's a bit like the old question: which came first, the chicken or the egg? Do we become our name or does it become us?
