Ellis Weiner: Hi, my name is Ellis Weiner, W-E-I-N-E-R. I'm named after my mother's father who was named Ellis Kellard.

My name originally is from Austria, but the spelling got reversed. A Viner is a person from Vienna, which is the main city in Austria. My great-great-great grandparents came from Austria and from Russia.

You may think, as I thought, that Ellis Weiner is a completely unique name. But two years ago, I did a reading of a different book in a synagogue here in Los Angeles. They said to me, "Wait a minute. We have someone for you to meet." They went downstairs and they brought up this eight year old boy. They said, "His name is Ellis Weiner too." I couldn't believe it. At least we found out that we have different middle names. So I'm not the only Ellis Weiner, not only in the world, but even in Los Angeles.
