Kathryn Ormsbee: Hello. My name is Kathryn Ormsbee. I've also written some books as K.E. Ormsbee, and that stands for my first name, Kathryn, and my middle name, Elise. It's a family name. I'm named after my aunt whose name is Laura Kathryn.

But friends of mine who've known me for a while sometimes joke about the great evolution of my name.
I went by Kathryn when I was little, but when I moved away to college, I decided I wanted a change. So I shortened my name to Katy. Well, little did I know that two of my best friends that I would make in college would also be named Katie, which led, as you can imagine to a lot of confusion. So for the rest of college, my friends ended up calling me Puffin, which sounds a little comical, but was my favorite animal. Then I moved away to Spain where I taught English as a foreign language for a year. Because I was traveling there with one of my friends named Katie, I wanted another change so that people wouldn't keep lumping us together as the Katies. So I decided to shorten my middle name, Elise, to Ellie, and I went by the name Ellie in Spain. Then when I got home, I figured I'd been adventurous enough with my name. So I went right back to Kathryn. Katie, Kathryn, Ellie, Puffin, K. E, I answered to all of them. So when asked the question, what's in a name, I would respond, "Sometimes, a dozen other names."
