When I was three weeks old, my name was changed from Janice to Jandy, and every single person in my family claims responsibility for changing my name. All I know is that after three weeks on earth I was suddenly Jandy Nelson and my last name, it wasn't always Nelson. My great grandparents immigrated from Russia at Ellis Island. It was changed from Katznelsonellenbogan to Nelson. So I guess in an alter universe I would have been Janice Katznelsonellenbogan. And in this one I am just Jandy Nelson.
