Sharon Hart Addy: Hello. My name is Sharon Hart Addy. When I was growing up as Sharon Hart no one had trouble saying my name. Then I got married and became Sharon Addy and found out that A-D-D-Y can be pronounced several ways. Some people change the A and say AH-dee. Some move the accent and ah-DEE. But so far the spelling has only been challenged once.

On my first day with a small group of third graders, I wrote Mrs. Addy on the board. When the kids came in one of the boys told me, "You spelled your name wrong. The Ds should be Bs." He was sure my name should be Abby, but it isn't. It's Addy. Sharon Hart Addy.
