Book Descriptions
for Bim Bam Boom by Frédéric Stehr
From Cooperative Children's Book Center (CCBC)
An owlet drumming with wooden spoons on an overturned saucepan (“BIM BAM BIM BAM BIM”) inspires another young bird to fetch a pair of pan lid cymbals (“TISH TISH”). One by one, three more avian friends join the impromptu ensemble, employing a colander, spatula, measuring spoon, and fork to add BOOM, DONG, and CLANG to the musical mix. The noise brings an adult owl to reclaim the kitchenware, in trade for a luscious treat. The final page of this onomatopoeic revelry on board pages suggests the creative crew will soon be off to their next project as they eye shelves of colorful preserves. (Ages 1–3)

From the Publisher
A pot and two wooden spoons--BIM BAM--little owl makes music! Canary, sparrow, chick, and raven join her. What a joy to create sound and rhythm with pots and pans! Two saucepan lids--TISH TISH--a bowl and a ladle--BOOM BOOM.
But then: "What ARE you doing?" asks Big Owl. This kind of music isn't for everybody. . .
This joyful board book captures the pure pleasure of making "music" with pots and pans, and celebrates the inadvertent naughtiness of toddler behavior.
