Book Description
for Delilah D. at the Library by Jeanne Willis and Rosie Reeve
From The United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY)
Deliah D. loves books and has an over-the-top imagination. As she tells Library Anne, in Faraway Land where she is queen, the library is a special place. They have lots of books, but they also give away free cupcakes, patrons use a trapeze to reach books on the high shelves, a beautiful princess reads to the children, and there are no rules against running, shouting, and singing. The illustrations for this celebration of both the imagination and books are warm and exuberant. Young children will probably agree that Deliah D.’s Faraway Land library sounds inviting, even if Library Anne doesn’t . ca
